Homework Center

 

The Safe Haven Computer and Homework Center is located at 141 Tenney Street in Methuen, and is open Monday to Friday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm during the school year. Computer instructors and mentors are available to assist the youth with their projects and homework. This program is funded through the FY 20 Shannon Grant and the Department of Housing and Community Development State Earmark 2019- 2020.

 

Computers, reference materials and supplies to complete homework are available at no cost to participants.

Summer Parks Program
 

During the summer months of July and August, M.A.N. Inc.'s staff and part-time employees of the City of Methuen's Recreation Department are at the Tenney Street Park. Breakfast, drinks and lunch are served free to all participants. Arts and crafts, sports, games, and books are made available to all who attend. This is a structured, supervised program to provide safe summer alternative. This program is funded by the Essex County Community Foundation's Summer in Greater Lawrence Grant.

Karate Program

 

M.A.N. Inc. offers a Karate program to 10 neighborhood youth. The classes are held between June and September. The instructor is Shihan Larry Giordano from the Methuen Karate School.

Summer Basketball League

For over twenty five years, M.A.N. Inc. has partnered with the Methuen Police Department to run a basketball league for the youth of the neighborhood. Over 120 boys and girls ages 7-12 participate each year. The league meets on Thursday evenings for the months of July and August. A Block Party/Job Fair/Tournament is held on the first Saturday after Labor Day each year. Every participant receives a medal or trophy. The league is sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence.

Saturday Movies & Crafts

 

Our Saturday Movies and Crafts Program is held every Saturday during the school year, from 11:00am to 2:00 pm.  The youth work on a craft every week, and then watch the latest movie out on DVD at no cost to them.  All pizza is donated by PJ's Pizza in Methuen.  Nevin's Memorial Library is on hand at least once per month to help create a craft or science experiment with the children

During the Summer Recreation Program, the Arts and Crafts program runs from 10:00am-12:00pm, and serves approximately 80-100 youth each day.

Food Basket Giving Program

The Methuen Arlington Neighborhood, Inc. in conjunction with the Methuen Exchange Club, Neighbors in Need, The Regency, Merrimack Golf Course deliver over 100 meals to working families during the holiday season. Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets provide holiday cheer.

M.A.N. Inc. offers a Satellite Library with reading books. The Satellite Library is open weekdays from 2:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 11:00pm. All residents are welcome to use the library. There are research books, encyclopedias, and other tools for youth and adults like to use for projects or research papers. This is funded by the Department of Housing and Community Development and the City of Methuen CDBG Grant.
